Cannes in crypto mode: Lyzi has onboarded 50+ merchants in record time. With the ETHCC (Ethereum Community Conference) approaching in early July, Cannes can boast an ambitious rollout: more than 50 merchants such as restaurants, pharmacies, beaches and hotels, including recently the Mondrian Hotel and the Golden Tulip Hotel , are already ready to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies thanks to Lyzi.

Why is Cannes aiming for a 90% crypto adoption rate?

Mayor David Lisnard's initiative: to train the city's merchants to support the arrival of thousands of crypto-loving visitors. The goal? To offer a modern, seamless payment method suited to a wealthy international clientele. Cannes is aiming for a crypto-friendly adoption rate of 90% of its stores by the summer.

How Lyzi conquered the city of Cannes

Lyzi initially focused on strategic targeting, concentrating its efforts on the hotels, beaches, and restaurants of La Croisette. This choice quickly paid off: in these tourist areas, adoption was rapid, accompanied by an increase in the average shopping cart.

A turnkey training program was offered at the Palais des Festivals, covering technical, accounting, and tax aspects. Lyzi provided compatible terminals, directly integrated with existing checkout systems, simplifying the shopping experience: a classic EFT, a QR code to scan, and possible payments in ETH, BTC, USDC, etc., with conversion into euros within 24 hours.

The fees are advantageous: 0.5% for merchants, while the customer portion (between 1 and 3% depending on the amount) is largely covered. Lyzi also relies on the city's political momentum and municipal support to promote crypto-friendly merchants.

Concrete results: more than 50 stores and this is just the beginning

  • 50+ merchants onboarded in less than two months.
  • Training of 400 traders in February at the Palais des Festivals
  • Target conversion rate of 90% by summer 2025.
  • In addition to boosting Lyzi's visibility, this strategy strengthens Cannes as a pioneering destination for crypto payments .

Perfect timing as ETHCC approaches!

This year, the city of Cannes is preparing to host the Ethereum Conference Community (ETHCC) from June 30 to July 5. This event attracts 6,500 accredited participants (and 10,000 participants including visitors): it is an opportunity for the city of Cannes to shine on the international scene shortly after its famous Festival. Lyzi is relying on this influx to deploy its network and demonstrate an operational crypto payment method in stores .

For Lyzi, this inexorably implies:

  • Strengthening credibility: Lyzi is becoming a major player in crypto payments at the point of sale, integrating with traditional cash register systems.
  • Snowball effect: Cannes shows the way and cities like Lyon, Grenoble or Annecy could be inspired by this model, like the city of Talence.
  • Boosting tourist attractiveness: being a “crypto-friendly” destination is an image lever for modern communities.

Cannes now accepts cryptocurrency payments

Lyzi shows that cryptocurrency payments, far from being a gimmick, can become a permanent fixture in physical commerce. In Cannes, the combination of political power, business strategy, and technology has made it possible to reach a milestone. The goal: to reach 90% of merchants, demonstrate the usefulness of cryptocurrencies as a payment method, and offer a seamless experience to local and international customers.
